Works at Minami Gallery: 1973-1977

1973: Age 45

June: Quits Norinchukin Bank and accepts a post as managing director at Minami Gallery.

After changing jobs, Satani self-publishes his first book, After Picasso.

While working at the gallery, Satani remains devoted to collecting art. He also becomes friendly with Shuzo Takiguchi, and visits his house in Nishi-Ochiai.

1976: Age 48

From February to October of the following year, he writes a series of essays under the pen name “Mushu Satan” in gallery (a booklet issued by Fuji Television Gallery) at the invitation of Michiyasu Itsutsuji (then director of Gallery Itsutsuji). This marks Satani’s first writing commission, and proves to be the start of a full-fledged career as a writer.

1977: Age 49

September: Satani quits Minami Gallery.
